about

OUR VISION AND MISSION

Chefs Donald Link and Stephen Stryjewski created the Link Stryjewski Foundation to address the persistent cycle of violence and poverty as well as the lack of quality education and job training opportunities available to young people in New Orleans.  The Link Stryjewski Foundation will provide support to organizations that directly work to end this cycle.

The mission of the Link Stryjewski Foundation is to help nourish and educate the youth of New Orleans, allowing them to realize their potential and become active positive members of our community.

KINGSLEY HOUSE

The mission of Kingsley House is to educate children, strengthen families and build community. Kingsley House is dedicated to improving the quality of life in Southeast Louisiana by collaboratively working with others to build a comprehensive system of services and resources that meet the needs of our recovering community. We help Kingsley House in many ways including being a founding chef participant in Boudin and Beer. Boudin and Beer is a new outdoor charity food and music celebration in which a portion of proceeds goes to Kingsley House.

GROW DAT YOUTH FARM

The mission of Grow Dat Youth Farm is to nurture a diverse group of young leaders through the meaningful work of growing food. On the farm, located in City Park in New Orleans, the Grow Dat team works collaboratively to produce healthy food for local residents and to inspire youth and adults to create personal, social and environmental change in their own communities. Grow Dat is a place where people from different backgrounds and disciplines come together in research and practice to support public health, local economies and a sustainable food system in South Louisiana. In the Spring of 2016, the Link Stryjewski Foundation partnered with Grow Dat to host its inaugural "Dinner on the Farm", which has since grown into a series of fundraising events. Link Restaurant Group employees from Cochon, Pêche, Butcher and Herbsaint volunteered at Grow Dat in advance of a second "Dinner on the Farm" held in conjunction with Grow Dat in the Fall of 2016.

THE ROOTS OF MUSIC

The Roots of Music believes that music has the power to transform lives. The organization empowers the youth of New Orleans through music education, academic support, and mentorship, while preserving and promoting the unique musical and cultural heritage of our city. The program provides music history and theory as well as instrumental instruction and ensemble performance preparation. The Roots of Music serves kids ages 9-14 from low-income households, and provides students with hot meals and round-trip transportation to reduce common barriers to participation. Five days a week, 12 months a year, the program delivers over 2,500 hours of music education and other academic tutoring, over 30,400 nutritious hot meals, 1,400 bus journeys, and supplies over 150 instruments for student use. The Roots of Music performed at the Link Stryjewski Foundation's inaugural Bal Masqué. We're delighted to have them join us again for Bal Masqué 2017.
